Obituary of Irving Henry Douglas

Irving Henry Douglas, age 93, beloved husband of Florence Biddle Douglas of West Haven, entered into his peaceful rest on January 28, 2024 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his family by his side.  Born in Ansonia on March 27, 1930, he was the son of the late William and Lillie Gatison Douglas.  Mr. Douglas was a graduate of Ansonia High School and was a proud U.S. Marine Corps Veteran.  He married "the love of his life" Florence Biddle and so began 68 years of togetherness and marriage.  Mr. Irving Douglas was an original member of the “Douglas Quintet Singers”, and performed live concerts and radio shows up and down the Northeast Coast.  Following his military service, Mr. Douglas worked as a power equipment mechanic for Sears of Orange for many years, until the time of his retirement.  In addition to his spouse, Mr. Douglas is survived by his devoted children, Keith (Simone) Douglas, Shari Douglas, and Jeff Douglas; seven cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews- who will all miss the kind, loving, self-giving person he was to everyone.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Judy Youins.
