Obituary of Stella Behuniak

Stella Behuniak, age 90, beloved wife of the late Peter Behuniak, died peacefully on September 28, 2015, at home surrounded by her family. Born in Ansonia on May 16, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Christine Madjic Spak. Mrs. Behuniak was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and longtime resident of Seymour. She loved her life as a home maker, wife and mother. Mrs. Behuniak is survived by her devoted children, Peter Behuniak and his wife, Gail Tomala of Glastonbury, Christine Spak and her husband, Ron Aldo of Woodbridge, Gerald Behuniak of Seymour and Joseph Behuniak of Cheshire; a sister, Mildred Pawlak of Seymour; cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Andrew, Stephan, Rheanna, Alex, Kaylie and Alyssa; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Mary Hulowsky, Ann Peters and Tessie Mendyk; and brothers, John, Michael, Andrew, Daniel, Joseph and Stephan Spak. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, October 2, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM; Panikhida at 7:30 PM. Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com. In reflection of her lifelong concern for others, especially children, our gentle mom has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to provide an award to a needy student graduating from Seymour High School. Contributions may be made to the “Seymour Public Schools Fund” at the Valley Community Foundation in memory of Stella Behuniak. In accord with our mom’s wishes your donation will be used to provide an award to a student graduating from Seymour High School to assist with their transition to college, work or independent living.
