Obituary of Francis F. Turechek

TURECHEK – Francis F. Turechek, Jr., age 84, beloved husband of Beverly Kausler Turechek of Stratford, died peacefully on August 23, 2015 at Bridgeport Hospital following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born in Bridgeport, CT on November 23, 1930, he was the son of the late Francis J. P. and Rose Ugolik Turechek. A lifelong Stratford resident, Mr. Turechek was a graduate of Stratford High School and the University of New Haven where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Manning, Maxwell and Moore now Dresser Industries Co., Bridgeport Machines, Bullards Machine Tool Co. and Sikorsky Aircraft Co. before his retirement in 1985. In 1947, Mr. Turechek achieved the Boy Scouts of America’s highest rank of Eagle Scout. Little did he realize that this achievement would spark a tradition within the Turechek family, his son Frank earned his Eagle in 1977, grandson Christopher in 2012, and grandson Frank’s is forthcoming. He was proud to see the legacy carry on three generations. Mr. Turechek and his wife were founding members of the Boothe Memorial Railway Society in Boothe Park Stratford. In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Cathy (James) Zadrovicz of Center Valley, PA and Frank F. (Maria) Turechek III of Shelton, CT; grandchildren, Cristin Zadrovicz of Newtown Square, PA, William (Cassandra) Zadrovicz of Perkasie, PA, and Tina, Christopher, and Frank Turechek of Shelton, CT; brother, William Turechek of FL; and sister, Rosalie Higgins of WA, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, John Turechek. Funeral Services are private. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, is in care of arrangements.
