Obituary of Joseph Ozinsky

Joseph Ozinsky, age 96 of Stratford, husband of the late Helen Wolniak Ozinsky, died on April 2, 2014 in the comfort of Atria Senior Living. Born in Ansonia on September 29, 1917, he was the son of the late Afton and Anna Jankowich Ozinsky. Mr. Ozinsky was an Army Corporal in WWII specializing in Gun Crewman Heavy Artillery 845 and Sharpshooter-Rifle Expert-Gunn. He was a sole proprietor of Joseph’s Liquor Store in Stratford for over 40 years, and in his free time enjoyed walking and swimming. He is survived by his children, Joseph Ozinsky of FL, Sandra Mazza of Middletown, Mary Ann (Todd) Levari of PA, and Tamara (John) Terifay of Stratford; grandchildren, Anthony (fiancé Jennifer Centina) Mazza of Bristol, Daniel (fiancé Katrina Crandal) Mazza of Bristol, and Ryan Reilly of Stratford; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Mazza and Angelina Mazza, both of Bristol. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by sisters, Helen Hallot and Martha Binkowski; and brothers, Walter and Alexander Ozinsky. Funeral services will take place on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment with Military Honors will be private. Family and friends may call at Wakelee Memorial on Sunday, April 6, 2014, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Panakhida at 3:30 PM.
